Haryana to Build 2,000-Ton Waste-to-Energy Plant in Gurugram

The Haryana government has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Oil Green Energy—a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oil India—to establish four cluster-based waste-to-energy facilities across the state, anchored by the largest plant in Gurugram.

Designed to process 2,000 tonnes of municipal waste daily, the flagship Gurugram facility will generate a minimum of 20 MW of electricity. The initiative utilizes an integrated processing model that diverts wet waste to compressed biogas plants while converting non-recyclable dry waste into energy. Aligned with the Solid Waste Management Rules, the projects prioritize strict source segregation, comprehensive pollution control standards, and financial backing from the Centre’s Urban Challenge Fund.
